1950 + Jamaica!!

Jungle was, still is, and always will be a direct amalgamation of Jamiacan and UK street culture. Of that there is absolutely no debate. It's a vibe. A feeling. A lifestyle. An intrinsic part of your DNA if this is the path that chose you .

Musically though it was, during its infancy and later during the 'Golden Era' of '94/'95, a perfect blend of reggae basslines, toasting and raggamuffin MCs and of course, in time, the infiltration of the breakbeat.

But when it comes to finding a selection of music that influenced the emerging jungle producers at that point in time, will take time, and research. Reggae is vast. Picking a bunch of tracks randomly just won't do. One of the main aims of this entire timeline is to be as accurate as possible. Bare with us while we do the work 🙂

So the best place to start with that is to gain an understanding of sound system culture.

This excellent website will help with that.
