As we've said before, this not a definitive list, and is never meant to be. We're preferring to look at a rounded view of the sound of drum and bass as it was developing, and this list is no different.
'97 was interesting because it had left over remnants of the hip-hop infused warbling of '96, the essence of techstep running through its core, but also the new technological sound, or 'the science' as spearheaded by the likes of Source Direct and J Magik.
