Alongside the emerging jungle sound (and jungle tekno) and piano breakbeat movements that were rife in 1992, there was also the very British sound of UK Hardcore, or Ardkore Tekno. This was a mostly 4/4 techno style with lots of rave stabs and euphoric riffs with (or without) a smidgen of breakbeats.
It was a sound made to make you rush, and stomp, and dance your backside off. We’ve separated the sound so that we could leave proto jungle in its own section. Really though, THIS is the sound of all night raving in the UK in 1992, as almost any mix tape from the time will testify. We’ve kept the section small so as not to detract from our main mission, which as you will know by now is the roots of jungle. Enjoy!
